We Are Wellspring
Our Mission is that you
Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference
At Wellspring, relationships are a top priority. That’s why LIFEgroups are the heartbeat of Wellspring. You will feel like family and build meaningful relationships.
Wellspring doesn’t just happen week to week. It’s built and accomplished by everyday people just like you who desire “to love and live like Jesus.” Start making a difference and see lives impacted by serving on one of our teams.
Sundays will quickly become your family’s favorite day of the week. Our age-specific lessons will ensure that your child has a ton of fun as they learn about Jesus. Our kidSpring team is committed to providing an environment that is safe, clean, and fun for your children while you enjoy the worship gathering.
Wellspring Students has a time of worship, fun, practical teaching, and small groups. Our small groups center on community. We need each other! Each of our small groups are led by an amazing group of adult leaders that are committed to your student and their faith. Our purpose is to help students Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, Make a Difference. We want students to successfully navigate middle and high school, and to develop their own faith.
The Wellspring Story
This new church began as a dream planted by God in the heart of Eric Newkirk, our lead pastor. While serving as a pastor at a church in Florida, Eric and his wife Laura sensed God stirring them to start a new church that would be built around the foundation of making disciples who make disciples in relationship.
With the blessing and support of their home church, the Newkirks prayed about what city God was calling them to. After visiting several cities, God made it clear that Raleigh was the place for them! The Newkirks and their four kids settled in Wake Forest in the summer of 2014. Nearby Journey Church partnered with the vision by extending the opportunity to recruit members from their church to join the launch team of this new church. After months of building relationships and having lots of people over for dinner, Eric held the first Vision Meeting on November 16, 2014. 42 adults (and 26 kids) attended that first gathering, many of whom committed to join the launch team. Over the following months, many more Vision Nights were hosted, slowly growing the launch team. In March 2015, the launch team began meeting weekly to discuss foundational values. This was a rich time, with deep relationships formed.
Meanwhile, small group leaders were trained, and in July of 2015 four LIFEgroups began meeting regularly. September 20, 2015 marked the Grand Opening of Wellspring Church as we held our first public worship service with 217 in attendance. Over the following months, Wellspring’s heart for giving back has been exemplified in serving teachers’ breakfasts, hosting community festivities, and hosting two Stop Hunger Now events. LIFEgroups continue to be a core foundation, where people are known and encouraged to take their next step of faith. We are excited to embrace all that God has in store for us!
God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is coequal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
The Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.
The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience towards God called sin. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or being good. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal spiritual life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through faith in Jesus. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
